This course will explore the science behind food preservation and will cover how to can using a pressure canner and the hot water bath methods. April is the perfect time to prepare and organize for the canning season and make sure you will be using current safe canning practices. When the gardens are ready to harvest you will be ready to preserve your bounty with confidence.
If you will be using your pressure canner to preserve food, it is important to have the canner lid tested annually for safety and accuracy.
A damaged seal or inaccurate gauge can result in bacterial contamination of food or a safety hazard for the operator and the home.
Feel free to bring your pressure canner lid to the workshop for free testing.
