Event Details

Discover the scientific support for the health benefits associated with a Mediterranean lifestyle with Susan Prillaman, Extension Agent with Virginia Cooperative Extension.  She will continue the series by promoting information on how the Mediterranean diet pattern affects chronic disease. Eating the "Med (Mediterranean) Way" has been proven to protect against chronic illness; this lifestyle may even decrease use of medications taken for blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes thus the expression “Med Instead of Meds”.

The food focus for the month will be on yogurt, cheese, and whole grains of the region.

Ms Prillaman uses the Penn State/NC State Extension curriculums for research and presentation.  The programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Big Island Library.
