Program Description

Event Details

Please join us when the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center of Roanoke visits to talk about wildlife rescue and conservation in Virginia!

Volunteers from SVWCR will be bringing one or two wild animal ambassadors and sharing each native species’ history and personal stories, as well as discussing issues facing wild animals in Virginia. They will also talk more generally about the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife, and provide information on what to do if you find an animal that may be in need of care and assistance.

What do wildlife rescue and conservation have to do with BPLS's "All the World Loves a Penguin" Community Read theme, you might ask? While the main theme of this year's read is penguins, three of our four titles also involve the rescue of wild animals in distress and touch on conservation and environmental issues. For more information about the 2021 Community Read and a list of this year's books, please visit our dedicated Community Read Page.

This event may be held outdoors, weather permitting. Registration is limited, but more spaces may become available if COVID-19 restrictions allow--so be sure to put your name on the waiting list if the program is full at the time of your registration.

Please also make sure to register EACH person who will be attending.
