Event Details

It may be winter but it’s going to feel like summer - the Summer of Soul - tonight at the Forest Library!

Summer of Soul (...or, when the revolution could not be televised) is a compelling music documentary that brings long overdue attention to the Harlem Cultural Festival of 1969 and its historical significance. The Harlem Cultural Festival was a combination of events highlighting Black music and culture in the pursuit of elevating Black pride and community. Summer of Soul received universal acclaim and was named Best Documentary at the 94th Academy Awards. It is a must-see documentary especially if you love music!

Join us tonight as we celebrate Black history, Black pride, and Black community this Black History Month!

Please be advised that this movie is rated PG-13 for some disturbing images, smoking, and brief drug material. This program is for ages 13+

Registration is required.
