Join us on Earth Day to hear Shaun Spencer-Hester share the legacy of Anne Spencer (1882-1975). Shaun Spencer-Hester is the executive director and curator of the Anne Spencer House and Garden Museum and Anne Spencer’s granddaughter.

Anne Spencer is remembered as a gardener, librarian, civil rights advocate, teacher, poet, wife, and mother. Spencer became an accomplished figure of the Harlem Renaissance and one of the founding members of the Lynchburg branch of the NAACP through her incredible literary talents. Her home is now the Anne Spencer House and Garden Museum in Lynchburg, VA.
