Mountain Dulcimer Concert

Join us for a cup of coffee or tea and a presentation and concert featuring the mountain dulcimer! Carla Fosbre of The Piano Studio at Smith Mountain Lake will talk about this traditional instrument and play some music for us.

Carla studied piano performance at Hollins University, and she has been studying Appalachian folk music since 2014. She became a certified teacher of the mountain dulcimer last year at Black Mountain, North Carolina Dulcimer Festival. In June 2022, she won first place in the Old Time Instrumental category on the mountain dulcimer at the Maury River Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival. She also plays with the Roanoke Valley Dulcimer Club and the newly formed Moneta Old Time Mountain Dulcimer Club that meets here at the Moneta/SML Library on the second Monday of the month from 6:30-8:00pm. Ages 6 and up and all skill levels are welcome at the club's meetings.
