A fun time for families and kids of all ages, Mozart’s The Magic Flute is his most popular opera. Join us today for a shorter version (40 minutes) of this musical story of heroic challenge and tender love performed by talented young singing actors from Opera on the James' Tyler Young Artist Program.

The opera begins with Prince Tamino being chased by a monster lion!  A Lady saves him, and then he meets Papageno, a friendly birdcatcher. Papageno gives him a picture of a beautiful girl named Pamina, the daughter of the Queen of the Night. Tamino falls in love with Pamina at first sight, but the Queen is mean and scary. Pamina is lonely and unhappy, and her father, Sarastro, comforts her. Tamino has a Magic Flute, which he uses to find Pamina. Meanwhile, Papageno keeps hoping to find a love for himself. After much searching, wishes are granted, and the opera ends with joy and rejoicing!
