Program Description

Event Details

Children ages 3 to 5 are invited to jump into the world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) with us on the 1st Tuesday of every month!  We will use items from our Amazement Square STEAM cart each month to explore a different theme/skill.

This month's theme: Float or Sink

Buoyancy is the fascinating principle of physics that allows objects to float in water, and what better way to explore it than through a fun STEM activity involving tin foil boats? In this activity, participants are tasked with designing and building a boat entirely out of tin foil that can float and hold objects without sinking. We will also be testing how many drops of water a penny can hold! Small bins of water will be used to test our tin foil boats.

We will be reading: Captain Kidd's Crew Experiments with Sinking and Floating by Mark Weakland.
